To avoid unnecessary interruptions to teaching, non-verbal communication is used by both teachers and students. This helps to keep the flow of the lesson going, but, perhaps more importantly, it ensures students’ thoughts are not interrupted. This is particularly important for our younger students and their developing oracy skills, as we want them to be able to hold the sentence structure or vocabulary in their head.
