Coaching – scaling up

Stephen Garvey

This episode looks at scaling systems of effective coaching. An analysis of the data demonstrates that “coaching can have an impact at scale” but that scaling-up programmes (to more than 100 teachers) is difficult, particularly in terms of generating a cohort of skilled coaches and establishing strong teacher buy-in. Stephen Garvey explains how Kraft, Blazar, and Hogan offer us five approaches to overcoming these scaling-up problems.
